Monitoring Pressure Tire Tool

The Johnson creates outboard motors that are rated for both freshwater and marine use. The lower unit of the outboard motor is the part of the gear housing that trails along the water, and this section of the motor includes the gearcase, the drive shaft and the propeller. The lower unit is especially subject to the elements because of its location. Both diagnostic and repair tools help you isolate and fix the problems with your lower unit.

Gauge

A pressure gauge attaches to your lower unit, and it is usually an analog device with a dial. It will alert you the moment that you lose pressure due to something clogging your lower unit or due to a leak. You can also attach a temperature gauge to your lower unit, and this lets you know if your unit is overheating. The temperature in your lower unit may rise over time if you lose enough cooling water or liquid. This loss causes the temperate at the head of your unit to rise slowly. It takes some time for your unit to overheat, but you can monitor your lower unit's temperature with this gauge.
